What We Do

The Association is made up of a Core Group and a Network. The main methods of communication are through the website, email, Twitter, Facebook Group -  Our Shad Thames, and Open Meetings.

If you would like to join the Network please complete the Join Us form. You will then receive our newsletter.  And do follow us on Twitter - @ShadThamesRA

The STRA Core Group keeps up-to-date with what is happening in the local Shad Thames environment, and makes representations to the various departments of Southwark Council related to licensing, planning, noise, etc. and keeps itself informed about local developments, local businesses and those simply using our space e.g. film makers, event organisers etc.

Through the Network STRA also facilitates communication amongst residents themselves.

STRA strives to make a positive contribution to the local community by arranging social functions e.g. the Platinum Jubilee Lunch (2022), a photographic competition (2013) and Picture Shad Thames competition 2015/16.

STRA also makes donations to local and national organisations.
See What we Fund.  STRA's main source of income is from donations from commercial filming in the Shad Thames area, along with a smaller sum from personal donations from residents.

The STRA Core Group has representation on other committees including: Potters Fields Park Management Trust, Riverside Safer Neighbourhood Ward Panel, and STAMP.    The Core Group members, who are elected every year, are here.
